Magnetar 9000 owners, here’s a worthwhile addition to your next gold-hunt checklist. Nokta has released software v3.04.04, with improvements to ground balancing and stability aimed squarely at challenging, highly mineralised ground.
Released on 22 September 2026, this update brings more precise ground compensation, smoother operation and minor bug fixes. If you’re getting your kit ready for another trip to the goldfields, take a moment to bring your Magnetar up to date before you pack it away. After installing the update, complete a full factory reset before your next hunt.
What’s new in Magnetar 9000 v3.04.04?
1. Refined ground balancing and stability
Nokta’s release notes highlight enhanced ground balancing and stability for improved performance in difficult soils. Ground compensation is a big part of getting a detector settled into the conditions under your coil, so this is an update that deserves an owner’s attention.
For prospectors working mineralised ground, the practical appeal is straightforward: smoother operation and more precise compensation for the ground itself. Take the updated machine back to familiar ground, follow the manual’s setup guidance and get to know how it behaves in your own conditions.
2. Minor bug fixes
The release also includes minor bug fixes. Nokta has not listed these individually in its announcement.
Get the official update through MDSA
We keep the route simple. Open our Magnetar 9000 manuals and downloads section, then select Official Nokta software updates. That takes you to Nokta’s own download page, where you’ll find the software and the manufacturer’s installation instructions. The English manual is available from the same MDSA section.
Before you update: a quick checklist
Read Nokta’s full instructions before starting. Here are the key preparation and installation points:
- Charge first: the detector battery must be at least 50% charged, with the search coil connected.
- Connect to your computer by USB. The detector displays a lock icon and appears as a drive named MAGNETAR.
- Extract the downloaded ZIP. Copy the extracted
.hexfile to the MAGNETAR drive. Keep its filename unchanged; do not copy the ZIP instead. - Let the copy finish, then disconnect USB. The update starts automatically and the detector switches off when it finishes.
- Leave the battery in place throughout the update.
Allow yourself time to do this at home before a trip, with the instructions open beside you. Once you’re ready to head out, revisit the manual’s ground-balancing guidance for your search conditions.
Important: full factory reset after the software update
Once the update is complete and the detector has switched off, turn it on again and perform a full factory reset. The reset restores factory settings, clears your personal settings and deletes saved data. Note any settings you want to set up again before you start.
- If the detector opens in the Easy Menu, press the Profile button to switch to the Expert Menu.
- From the Expert Menu, press the Select button to enter the Settings menu.
- Use the left or right navigation buttons to find Factory Reset.
- With Factory Reset selected, press and hold Select for 3 seconds to restore factory settings.
Use Factory Reset in the Settings menu, not the separate Reset option in the Profile menu, which only clears saved user settings. After the reset, set up your preferred settings again and check the ground balance for your search conditions.
